After five years of playing for the Buckeyes, Javontae Jean-Baptiste will play against Ohio State in September.
When Ohio State plays Notre Dame in South Bend on Sept. 23, Jean-Baptiste will be on the other side as the former Ohio State defensive end announced his transfer commitment to Notre Dame on Friday.

Jean-Baptiste will reunite with former Ohio State linebackers coach Al Washington, who is now the defensive line coach at Notre Dame, though Jean-Baptiste is likely to play the “Vyper” outside linebacker position in the Fighting Irish’s defense.
Jean-Baptiste had his most productive season as a Buckeye in 2022 as he recorded 18 total tackles with four tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks and a forced fumble. He brings one year of eligibility to Notre Dame.
All five scholarship players who have entered the transfer portal from Ohio State during the current transfer window have now found new homes. Former Ohio State linebacker Teradja Mitchell is transferring to Florida, cornerback JK Johnson is transferring to LSU, safety Jantzen Dunn is transferring to Kentucky and safety Jaylen Johnson is transferring to Memphis.
