While Jones had expressed interest in playing for his hometown Cleveland Browns after four years with the Denver Broncos, he told CBS Sports’ Josina Anderson that he chose the Seahawks because he felt like they were the team that believed most in his ability.
DreMont Jones to me on why he chose Seattle: I feel like they have the biggest belief in me. They have a really promising team, and I am looking forward to transitioning to that city. #Seahawks

Jones becomes the second former Ohio State player to agree to a deal with a new team on the first day of the NFL’s free agency negotiation period, joining Vonn Bell, who agreed to a three-year, $22.5 million deal with the Carolina Panthers on Monday.
In four seasons with the Broncos, who selected him in the third round of the 2019 NFL draft, Jones recorded 133 total tackles with 28 tackles for loss, 22 sacks, one interception, six pass deflections, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery. Regarded as one of the league’s top young interior pass-rushers, Jones will now take his playmaking ability to Seattle, where he’ll play the same 3-4 defensive end position he played in Denver.
He becomes the second former Ohio State defensive lineman on the Seahawks’ roster, joining 2022 fifth-round pick Tyreke Smith.
