His catch instantly drew a wave of reactions on social media, including one from Marvin Harrison Jr., who will soon follow in Smith-Njigba’s footsteps by becoming the next Ohio State wide receiver to be a first-round NFL draft pick.

Smith-Njigba’s spectacular grab, which was the No. 1 play on Thursday night’s SportsCenter, continued a trend of recent Ohio State wide receivers making some of the best catches of the year in the NFL.
Garrett Wilson made one of the top catches of the season in Week 1 on Monday Night Football when he tipped a ball to himself for what proved to be a pivotal touchdown for the New York Jets in a win over the Buffalo Bills.

Chris Olave followed his lead one week later with a tip-drill catch of his own on Monday Night Football.

Two weeks ago, Olave put another entry into the catch-of-the-year conversation with an acrobatic grab against the Minnesota Vikings on which he somehow got two feet down in bounds in a small space in the back right corner of the end zone for a 14-yard touchdown over Vikings cornerback Byron Murphy Jr.
