Time and time again, Ohio State has proven that it *is*, in fact, WRU.
The beginning of the 2024 NFL draft on Thursday night was just another example.
With Marvin Harrison Jr. going to the Arizona Cardinals as the fourth-overall pick, he not only became Ohio State's highest-draft wide receiver ever but the 12th Buckeye wide receiver selected in the first round of the NFL draft, surpassing the Tennessee Volunteers for the most by any school.

Preceding Harrison were 11 other Ohio State first-round wide receivers, including four – Harrison, Jaxon Smith-Njigba (No. 20 in 2023), Garrett Wilson (No. 10 in 2022) and Chris Olave (No. 11 in 2022) – over the last three drafts alone.
Year | Player | Pick |
---|---|---|
2024 | Marvin Harrison Jr. | 4th |
2023 | Jaxon Smith-Njigba | 20th |
2022 | Garrett Wilson | 10th |
2022 | Chris Olave | 11th |
2007 | Ted Ginn Jr. | 9th |
2007 | Anthony Gonzalez | 32nd |
2006 | Santonio Holmes | 25th |
2004 | Michael Jenkins | 29th |
1999 | David Boston | 8th |
1996 | Terry Glenn | 7th |
1995 | Joey Galloway | 8th |

Ohio State not only has the most first-round wide receivers in the NFL draft, but the Buckeyes are also atop the list of most first-round draft picks with 91, ahead of USC (86), Alabama (82) and Notre Dame (71).
Harrison's selection also kept OSU tied atop all college football teams for the most top-four NFL draft picks all-time, along with USC.
School | No. |
---|---|
OHIO STATE | 17 |
USC | 17 |
ALABAMA | 16 |
NOTRE DAME | 16 |
OKLAHOMA | 13 |
LSU | 11 |
TEXAS | 11 |
Given the amount of five-star talent brewing in Brian Hartline's wide receiver factory in Columbus, including Emeka Egbuka, Jeremiah Smith, Carnell Tate and Brandon Inniss, OSU could have more first-round wide receivers in the near future.
Ohio States top seven wide receiver commits in the modern recruiting era Jeremiah Smith, Julian Fleming, Emeka Egbuka, Garrett Wilson, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Brandon Inniss and Mylan Graham have all committed to the Buckeyes since 2019.
