A native of Waxahachie, Texas, Simpson-Hunt was the No. 63 overall recruit and No. 8 cornerback in the 2023 class, according to the 247Sports composite. Ohio State landed Simpson-Hunt's commitment in June 2022, flipping him from Texas Tech.
Simpson-Hunt played in five games as a true freshman in 2023, collecting 24 defensive snaps against Rutgers and Michigan State and special teams snaps against Minnesota, Michigan and Missouri. Because one of his appearances occurred in the Cotton Bowl, Simpson-Hunt qualified for a redshirt in his debut season with the Buckeyes.
With Denzel Burke, Davison Igbinosun, Jordan Hancock and his 2023 classmate Jermaine Mathews Jr. ahead of him on the depth chart in 2024, Simpson-Hunt made more appearances (nine) but recorded fewer snaps (six) in his second collegiate season. All six of those snaps occurred in Ohio State's Week 2 win over Western Michigan.
Simpson-Hunt leaves Ohio State with four career tackles. He is the first Buckeye to announce he would enter the transfer portal since Ohio State won the national championship.
