Ohio State blows out Indiana, 38-15. Now, it's time to do the same to That Team Up North.
Today Big Ten Hockey announced its selection for the conference’s Stars of the Week. For the second time this season the group includes a Buckeye. Ohio State goalie Sean Romeo nabs his first B1G honor.
Men's Hockey | Individual Honors | Week |
---|---|---|
Mason Jobst, Jr. F | Big Ten First Star of the Week | No. 2 |
Sean Romeo, Jr. G | Big Ten Third Star of the Week | No. 4 |
Going into the 2017-18 season the team’s goaltending situation was uncertain. OSU graduated every goalie on the roster with experience in the Buckeye net. Junior transfer Sean Romeo stepped into the gap on Day 1. He has performed solidly from the outset, accumulating a 1.30 GAA and .943 save percentage in six games.
This week’s conference honor is due to Romeo’s most recent work. Ohio State swept Massachusetts last week. Romeo allowed just a single goal against in the series opener. He blanked the Minutemen completely in the finale, stopping all 23 shots he faced. It was the first shutout of Romeo’s collegiate career.
Romeo and the Bucks are back in Columbus on Friday to host their half of a home-and-home series with Robert Morris. Bobby Mo hosts Saturday’s contest in Pittsburgh. Both tilts are set to begin at 7pm ET.
