Washington hired Rick Neuheisel as head coach in 1999. He committed recruiting violations before his first game, which makes him the perfect authority on NCAA violation cases.
Thanks to former offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil's lax social media security, Ole Miss has quite the dilemma on its hands... or so it would seem to those outside Oxford, Mississippi.
But Neuheisel spoke to his good friend, Rebel head coach Hugh Freeze, before going on Arkansas radio show Sports Talk with Bo Mattingly to assure Ole Miss faithful there's nothing to see here.
From saturdaydownsouth.com:
“In talking with Hugh, and I’m not at liberty to tell you everything he told me, I feel very comfortable that (the current NCAA investigation) will go away and go away quietly because I don’t feel like Ole Miss has anything really at risk here with respect to having done anything wrong,” Neuheisel said on the air. “They have answers for everything that took place… I feel comfortable based on the information I got that there’s answers. Hopefully the NCAA will realize they are legitimate answers.”
Based on this exchange, Ole Miss is either fully cooperating with the investigation, as they’ve indicated in the past that they plan to do, or they will soon do so and are prepared for any line of questioning.
So there you have it, folks! Expect nothing to come of this.
