In six seasons leading the Aggies, Sumlin went 51-26 before being shown the door.
Credited with helping Johnny Manziel win the 2012 Heisman Trophy, Sumlin will now turn his attention to maximizing the talent of Arizona's electric signal-caller, Khalil Tate.
The Arizona gig came open after former Michigan head coach Rich Rodriguez was fired after allegations surfaced in which his former administrative assistant accused him of sexual harassment and creating a hostile work environment.
