Stoner rock pioneers Kyuss released their presciently titled fourth album "...And the Circus Leaves Town" today in 1995. The band would split a year later but they went out in style, leaving behind another piece of bedrock upon which the stoner rock genre would be built.
Drummer Brant Bjork had left the band in 1993 and things started to fall apart. A bit of a power struggle had been brewing between guitarist Josh Homme and Bjork, as both were major contributors to Kyuss' songwriting efforts. Bjork's departure didn't alleviate the tensions in the band but everyone seemed to have landed on their feet.
Homme went on to found Queens of the Stone Age. Bjork would join Fu Manchu, former bassist Nick Oliveri, who had left a few years prior would start Mondo Generator and play with QOTSA, Turbonegro, and Mark Lanegan. Bassist Scott Reeder would go on to play with The Obsessed and Fireball Ministry. Singer John Garcia created the band Slo Burn and Unida, as well as reuniting with Oliveri and Bjork in Vista Chino.
