Per this ESPN article, Kevin Warren believes that the Power 5 champs should get automatic bids to the CFP should it expand. I completely agree with this, but Kevin Warren is still an a**. The article does touch on why smaller Group of 5 don’t necessarily agree with this. However, I don’t see any way that a P5 Champ wouldn’t have at least a résumé to belong somewhere in the 12 spot playoff as proposed.
Now, it says the earliest it could expand is 2024 but I believe the current contract with ESPN runs out in 2025. I fully expect that it will go up for bidding so that way the CFP can get the best deal.(My money is on CBS purchasing the rights) Any thoughts?
