Former Texas and Houston coach Tom Herman will be an analyst on college football games for CBS Sports Network this fall.

First I have heard of Tom in quite a while. Completely forgot that he was working with the Bears. My takeaway from this news is just how truly unpredictable coaching success can be, and how it is unreal that OSU hasn't had a "bad hire" since before Woody.
You can also think of the "butterfly effect" scenario. What if Urban doesn't get suspended in 2018, allowing Ryan Day to take over the reigns? Does OSU still hire Day to replace him? I'm not so sure. Of note, Herman coming off of a 10-3 season at Texas, culminating in a win over Georgia, in which Sam Ehlinger announced "We're backkkkkk". Herman wouldn't have left Texas, but I'd have to imagine Gene Smith would've gave him a call.
