Nebraska used to be one of the blue bloods. They drifted and are now essentially irrelevant. Is the Nebraska job still a good coaching job?
I would argue that "yes" , it very much is, and here's why. Generally, jobs at "former great schools" are not good, because the fan base has ridiculous and unrealistic expectations. That's not the case at Nebraska anymore, the fans have seen what the program has become -- they just want to be respectable again. NIL and the transfer portal are game changers that can bring the Huskers back, given the right coach. They don't have a ton of talent near them, so recruiting to be elite is tough. However, Nebraska has a very passionate fanbase willing to spend money. That means lots of NIL options. Basically, start raiding the transfer portal and use NIL to attract some better talent. They have massive checks coming in from the B1G, can build great facilities, have a strong fan base. With the right coach, there's no reason NB can't be as successful (or more so) than MSU, Wisc, Iowa etc.
If Kansas can recruit some of the best players to play b-ball there, why couldn't the Huskers also recruit some decent football players, using NIL and the transfer portal?
