What Do You Want the B1G to Do Next?

Now that the conference has added Oregon and Washington to get to 18 it seems the final step of conference imperialism is coming up soon. Everything points to the ACC breaking up and the SEC/B1G fighting for the top dogs there. Previous reports also suggested Stanford/Cal were options for west coast expansion to claim the Bay Area. Notre Dame is also still out there as an independent struggling to sign a tv deal that competes with the big boys. So what do you want to see the B1G do from here? Which teams to be added and what format for the conference. Here are some ideas

Potential additions

  • ACC-FSU, North Carolina, Clemson, Miami, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech
  • Pac12-Stanford, Cal, Utah
  • Notre Dame

Potential Formats

  • 18 teams-This is actual a very clean number of teams for a conference. With a 9 game schedule each team could then have 1 annual rival and play the other 16 teams home and away every 4 years.
  • Current rivalry format-The B1G created a new format where each team had annual rivals guaranteed and the rest of the games are simply filled to best balance the schedule. PSU(0 rivalries) and Iowa(3) would have different schedules. This maximizes playing everybody in the conference
  • Divisions-The way it currently works. Allows teams to maintain and build multiple annual rivalries. Division races build interest in your rival and prevent you from playing the same team in the conference championship.

I personally want the conference to just go ahead and blow it out to 24 at this point. It’s already lost the sense of a midwestern region so may as well become the top brand of college football. Strike while ESPN is too broke to help the SEC.
I would add FSU, Clemson, North Carolina and Miami to build a strong prescience in the south. Hopefully I could get Notre Dame as my 23rd team. I struggle finding team 24. VaTech, Utah, Stanford, and Virginia would all get a look but I would prefer VaTech.
