The Format That I Think Might Be Best for College Football at This Point

Today was understandably a jarring day for CFB fans. We seem to be in a never ending state of flux with the B1G and SEC only growing in power and wealth at the expense of everyone else. At this point, I think college football's best hope is a format similar to the following:

-(please dont yell at me) The SEC/Big Ten form two 30ish team superconferences comprised of all of the formerly Power 5 schools that essentially serve as the AFC/NFC of college football

-There are NO subdivisons in these conferences. The only guaranteed games are those against ones rival(s) with the rest rotating on a yearly basis. Kind of like how the B1G will start functioning in 2024

-Teams can only play games against the other 30 teams in their conferences, no more playing Group of 5 schools

-At the end of the season each conference stages a (hopefully) 8 team playoff

- The winner of the Big Ten playoff and the winner of the SEC playoff meet in the natty

I think this is best for several reasons but chief among them are rivalries and the traditions that spring from them. With only two conferences, and those conferences working in tandem, rivalry games will be easier to manage from a scheduling standpoint. Rivalry games can not only be protected but it will be easier to manage playing them at the same time every year. Also the most any rivals could meet in the season is twice, once in the regular season and once in the conference playoff. Compare that to the 12 team playoff where we could see OSU/TTUN play each other THREE TIMES. It will be a bit messy and because of the rotating opponents not every teams schedule will be equal on any given year but they never have been. Aside from hopping in a time machine, does anyone else have a better idea?
