Re: Michigan’s record over the past couple of years: is the only real question now whether the NCAA will ultimately decide to vacate Michigan’s wins or whether it will deem those games forfeits?

By the way, I am not excluding the possibility of additional punishment here such as coaches being barred for a period of time, a reduction in scholarships, a postseason ban, etc depending on all of the specifics that turn up as the NCAA continues with its investigation.

But, based simply on the following finding and determination by the B1G:
—-
“I have concluded that (Michigan) engaged in the impermissible scheme resulting in unfair games on unequal terms and compromised player safety. Nothing offends the integrity of competition more than attempting to gain an unfair advantage through impermissible means.”
—-
how can the NCAA not either 1) vacate Michigan wins or, 2) more appropriately, deem those games to be forfeits?

The NCAA has penalized teams in this fashion in the past for conduct that had far less impact on “the integrity of competition.”

The bottom line: in withdrawing the legal challenge to the B1G’s determination and leaving intact the B1G’s devastating findings, hasn’t Michigan left the NCAA with no choice but to, at a very minimum, erase the football team’s wins over the past 2-3 years?  (And the time period will depend on how far back there is evidence of Stallion’s scheme and Michigan’s use of Stallion’s info).
(Mod Edit: Yeah, closing. Sorry, Son.)
