No matter how we feel about TTUN, there has always been some kind of mutual respect. That's what has made The Rivalry so compelling, right?
And there's always been gamesmanship. That's fine. Allegedly, Bo tried to distract our boys at a team dinner by sending in exclusively beautiful servers. Allegedly, Woody turned off the hot water to the visitors' locker room. Fine. That's silly fun.
And the concept of the "Michigan Man" took hold up there: a straight arrow who always does things the right way. With honor. He may provide no mercy to his opponents, but the competition will be square. Harbaugh was hired in great part because of his "Michigan Man" heritage.
But the "Michigan Man" trope is now complete BS. Not only has their team been cheating for three years, but the players knew, but still take great pride in their tainted victories. It's like if you cheated on a test in school and your teacher congratulated you...you would just mumble thanks. You wouldn't proclaim yourself a genius because you know you cheated.
A Michigan Man now cries because everyone else found out he was cheating. A Michigan Man completely ignores all evidence presented to him as to why their coaches were suspended, etc. A Michigan Man deflects blame and points fingers at others.
If nothing else, will the cheating scandal at least mean the fans will stop pretending that the virtuous "Michigan Man" thing is real? Additionally, will TTUN embrace their heel turn and flex their status as the Lance Armstrong of college football?
