Everyone wants to bring up all these warts that various teams have. But in a 12 team playoff, a lot of teams with warts will get in.
The following teams can very clearly say they have no warts.
- Oregon: Perfection so far. Their biggest wart is playing Wisconsin close and playing a Boise team close (that actually turned out pretty good). Biggest feathers in their cap are beating 2 likely playoff teams.
- Ohio State: 1 point road loss to the #1 team is the best loss you can possibly have. Warts beyond that are a 4 point win against Nebraska at home that didn't look great. Two very good wins in Indiana and Penn State are the key feathers.
- Penn State: 7 point loss at home to the #2 team is also very excusable, although their 1 point road win against Minnesota was not a good look. Played a few mediocre teams close like BGSU, USC also aren't great. Biggest feather is beating Illinois, which is not super impressive
Worst warts of teams in the at-large playoff picture
* Notre Dame vs. Northern Illinois. The worst loss of any team in the playoff picture
* Alabama @ Vandy. A close game but Vandy is not that good.
* Alabama @ Oklahoma. Oklahoma is underrated but losing that badly is ugly.
* Tennessee @ Arkansas. Road games are tough and they kept it close so not awful.
* Clemson vs. Georgia. Losing to Georgia isn't terrible, but 3 points and getting blown out is real bad.
* Indiana @ Ohio State. Losing wasn't bad, but getting blown out and looking that inept was.
* Texas vs. Georgia. Getting dominated at home is never a good look.
* Miami vs. Georgia Tech. Georgia Tech isn't bad and this one is partially excusable if Miami didn't play every mediocre team close.
* SMU vs. BYU. BYU isn't amazing butit's an excusable loss.
* Boise St. playing Wyoming and Nevada close. Two awful teams that should have gotten blown out.
* South Carolina @ Ole Miss. Not the worst loss but the magnitude was bad.
