Kyle McCord is officially entering the 2025 NFL draft.
The former Ohio State quarterback had been seeking an additional year of eligibility from the NCAA to play one more season at Syracuse, but told ESPN’s Pete Thamel on Friday that he has decided to end his pursuit of a waiver and enter the draft.

McCord makes the jump to the NFL after one season at Syracuse in which he broke the ACC’s single-season record for passing yards, throwing for 4,779 yards in 13 games with the Orange. He previously spent three seasons at Ohio State, including one season in which he played just five games, which was the basis of his request for an additional year of eligibility.
He’ll be one of three quarterbacks who spent part of their college careers at Ohio State that are projected to be selected in the 2025 NFL draft. The other two, current Ohio State starter Will Howard and current Texas starter Quinn Ewers, are set to face off in Friday night’s College Football Playoff semifinal at the Cotton Bowl.
Per the consensus big board on NFL Mock Draft Database, McCord is currently projected as the No. 155 overall prospect in the 2025 NFL draft.
