What with a tougher than we wanted basketball regular season, I've seen quite a bit of negativity towards Coach Matta. And it never helps when the bulk of your career you are inevitably compared to Coach Tressel and now Coach Meyer, fresh off a national title.
I was hoping someone out there might have some sort of insight as to how coaching football is similar to or different than coaching basketball? How much of the performance we see on game day is a product of coaching in either sport? What's the difference in the locker room dynamic? And lastly, is it fair to judge a basketball coach compared to football coaches, where the playing field seems much more level and path to a title far less clear (in basketball)?
