PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. – Another day, another fantastic debut on the mound by a Buckeye pitcher at the Snowbird Classic. Freshman right-handed pitcher Garrett Burhenn tossed eight scoreless innings in a one-hit performance in his collegiate debut as the Ohio State baseball team won, 6-0, over Seton Hall Saturday afternoon at North Charlotte Regional Park. Burhenn, from Indianapolis, Ind., struck out six with no walks to help Ohio State claim its first shutout of the year and improve to 2-0 on the weekend.
QUOTE FROM COACH
“Garrett was really good,” head coach Greg Beals said. “He went eight innings and faced the minimum. A really good outing. He rolled a double play ball and had help on a great play by Kobie Foppe up the middle. I think scoring that run in the first inning gave him some breathing room. He commanded his sinking fastball really well today.”
