In its mid-season HS basketball report, the Des Moines Register named Carton as the state's most impressive player. 

Most impressive player: D.J. Carton, Bettendorf

The five-star Ohio State point guard recruit has not disappointed in his senior season. Carton is averaging 23.7 points, 7.5 rebounds and 5.8 assists for a Bettendorf squad that entered Friday at 10-1. Videos of his almost-daily thunderous dunks make their rounds on social media, but the attention he draws on the floor has helped his teammates thrive — and helped make the Bulldogs a legitimate title contender.

Bettendorf's only loss was by four at undefeated North Scott. They'll have a rematch at Bettendorf on January 29th. Carton had 29 points, 16 rebounds and five assists.
