Maybe, but probably not. That is, the likelihood that Holtmann opts to use an open scholly on anyone in the 2021 class. But that doesn't mean things have slowed in the recruiting class of 2022.
The live period for recruits begins with 5 star junior AJ Casey Jr. visiting from June 6-8. He is a power forward out of Whitney Young HS in Chicago, listed as 6'8" 180 lbs. All the usual suspects are on his trail, including Gonzaga, Illinois, TTUN. Some have him listed as 6'7". 247 has him ranked 21 in the composite, #1 in Illinois. No crystal balls in as of yet.
Then, sometime in mid-June Kyle Flipowski, a 6'10" 230 lb. Power forward out of Wilbraham and Monson Academy in Wilbraham, Mass. Visits. Rivals has him as the 117 ranked recruit in the nation, holds 26 offers, amongst them, UConn, Creighton, and Georgetown. In the 247 composite, he is listed as 6'11", ranked 58th nationally, #1 in Mass
Not sure anyone knows how many schollies Holtmann will have for 2022(probably 5), but in the fold already, Bruce Thornton, a 5 star guard out of Georgia(according to blackcoffee) Roddy Gayle, a shooting guard from New York, and Bowen Hardman, homegrown, from Ohio.
Pretty much a certainty that Holtmann hires a new assistant in the coming weeks.
And away we go!
