The Hubbard, Ohio, native, who tallied 2,638 rushing yards as a senior in 2021, joined the program in June and has "officially" become a Buckeye just three months later.
Ohio State's running back depth came into question following a season-ending injury suffered by Evan Pryor during the preseason, which resulted in some experimentation with linebacker (and former Arizona State running back) Chip Trayanum at the position in practice.
While the emergence of true freshman Dallan Hayden gave the Buckeyes a trustworthy option as the No. 3 back behind TreVeyon Henderson and Miyan Williams, Caffey provides Tony Alford and company another body in the position room.
Caffey is the first Buckeye to have his black stripe removed this month, and the first in general since Sonny Styles on Aug. 30.
