As I’m absolutely reeling for silver linings after today, I began thinking about the surety of us making the CFP this year. It’s weird, because the near consensus is to fire Day and move on, and I am sticking true to my convictions that he had to win this one or he is done.
Saying that, given the fact that we will make the CFP, there is no way a move is made until after the season. This means we are stuck with Day for the playoff ride. I then began thinking about how I felt in 2022 after losing this game, which is very similar to now. But I also remember rooting my absolute ass off in that game against Georgia. At the time of the game being played, I didn’t give a single shit about losing to TTUN a month before.
It’s weird, because I know that I will root my absolute ass off again for the Buckeyes each game they get to play going forward. Oddly enough, with each win, becomes a greater probability that Day keeps his job. It is quite the conundrum, feeling that what’s best for the future is losing in the present. Winning a title this year is bad for the future of the program? Just my after TTUN loss musings, but it’s such odd air to be in with the current state of the program and where college football is in 2024.
