The Basketball Tournament has experimented with the Elam Ending this summer, to a wide variety of reviews both positive and negative.
The Elam Ending comes into play at the first dead ball under four minutes in the fourth quarter of play. Seven points is added to the score of the leading team, and the first team to reach that score wins, as the game clock is turned off.
For example, if the score at the first dead ball under four minutes is 53-50, the first team to reach 60 points wins. The new experiment came into existence as a way to reduce constant fouling at the end of games, in an effort to speed games up and make them more enjoyable for the fans.
Some have advocated for higher levels of basketball to at least experiment with the Elam Ending, and the NBA Summer League even considered utilizing it this summer.
Would you like to see the Elam Ending at higher levels of basketball? Why or why not?
