Maybe it's just me, but I think McNabb is delusional. He was certainly a very good QB for a long time, but at no point would I have ever taken McNabb over Aikman.
If you look at his raw career stats, McNabb does have more passing yards and more TD's etc, than Aikman. However, if you look at the stats in the context of how other QB's during their career played, you can see that McNabb's stats are not much different than average for his time, whereas Aikman was solidly better than his peers. Not only that, but Aikman was asked to do only certain things because they had the most prolific RB in the history of the league in Emmit Smith running the ball behind possibly one of the best lines in the history of the game. There was no need for Aikman to put up big passing numbers, the Cowboys were rarely far behind in the game since they controlled the clock with the running game. When needed, Aikman was extremely effective, winning 3 super bowls and 1 super bowl MVP.
McNabb? No super bowl rings, one appearance (a loss).
Am I just way out in left field on this one?
