They're going for gold.
A record total of 26 current, future or former Ohio State athletes will compete in this summer's Olympic Games set to begin in Tokyo next month.
Nine current Buckeyes, 13 former Buckeyes and four incoming freshmen – United States synchronized swimmer Ruby Remati, Canadian synchronized swimmer Emily Armstrong, and Greek rowers Anneta Kyridou and Maria Kyridou – made teams spanning 12 different countries. Nine of the athletes, including five currently enrolled in school, will compete for the United States in the Olympics.

Prior to this year, the 2008 Beijing Olympics held the record of having 19 Buckeyes at the Games. In 2016, there were 16 Ohio State athletes at the Olympics.
This summer's Olympics will begin with the opening ceremony at the Olympic Stadium in Tokyo on July 23.
