Early Thursday afternoon, Ohio State sent a release listing Big Ten Player of the Year frontrunner Keita Bates-Diop questionable for the night's game with an illness.
He played, and boy did he play.
Bates-Diop led the Buckeyes with 25 points in the 82-79 loss to Penn State, shooting 8-for-13 from the field, and was absolutely unstoppable down the stretch, scoring nine during the game's final 2:07.
His offense nearly led Ohio State all the way back – or at least overtime. Bates-Diop hit a deep, contested three-pointer to tie the game at 79 with just five seconds to play before Penn State's game-clinching buzzer beater.
It wasn't quite Michael Jordan's flu game, but it was fun to watch nonetheless.
