Marcus Johnson is already collecting some prestigious hardware.

On Thursday, the Ohio State commit and 247Sports composite top-30 prospect was named Ohio Mr. Basketball and the state's Gatorade Player of the Year after a stellar campaign for Garfield Heights in his junior year. He joins his father, Sonny Johnson, as the only two players in Garfield Heights history to be named Ohio Mr. Basketball.

Marcus Johnson led the Bulldogs to the Ohio High School Division III State Final Four this season with elite scoring and passing and nearly willed his team to a state title game with a 25-point performance in a 49-48 loss to Louisville. He averaged 34.3 points across Garfield Heights' first four postseason games as he guided the squad to the semifinals in Dayton's UD Arena.

Meechie Johnson Jr., a senior and Marcus Johnson's cousin, played just 10 games for Ohio State this season and his future is unclear. But regardless of that uncertainty, Marcus remains locked in on being the Buckeyes' point guard of the future.

"I just got off the phone with (Jake) Diebler today. He's a really good coach, a really good guy," Johnson told Eleven Warriors' Josh Poloha on Sunday. "Definitely locked in with Ohio State."

Marcus Johnson is also considering a reclassification to the class of 2025 to get his college career started next season, but said he's still in the process of making that decision.

If and when Johnson enrolls at Ohio State, he'll become the 14th former Ohio Mr. Basketball to wear the Scarlet and Gray, including current Buckeyes Devin Royal and Colin White.
