On the same day Ohio State landed its first commitment from the Class of 2019 in West Virginia five-star offensive tackle Doug Nester, arch rival Michigan added its second five-star prospect of the same cycle when Georgia defensive end Christopher Hinton pledged his services to the Wolverines.

The 6-foot-4, 265-pound Hinton is considered the top-rated strong-side defensive end and No. 9 prospect overall in the Class of 2019. He included Ohio State and Michigan in his Top 6 in late July alongside Clemson, Georgia, North Carolina and Stanford.
Hinton was on campus for Friday Night Lights, but much like fellow Wolverines five-star defensive end commit Stephen Herron Jr., was never really made a priority by the staff. The Buckeyes are set to take only one or two defensive ends in next year's cycle, and Olentangy Orange five-star Zach Harrison is undoubtedly their top target.
Not to mention, Lexington four-star outside linebacker Cade Stover — another heavy Ohio State lean — may eventually develop into a defensive end at the next level.
Hinton is the son of former Northwestern offensive tackle Chris Hinton, who went on to play 13 seasons in the NFL, and older brother of Ohio State offer Myles Hinton. Their father is best known as being the guy traded for John Elway.
