Ohio State commit Garrett Wilson, a five-star wide receiver from Austin, Texas, has agreed to give Eleven Warriors exclusive access into his senior season with the Cavaliers.
He'll join us every week to assess his own play, as well as his team's, while giving Ohio State fans continuous updates as his senior prep season rolls along.
Wilson's sixth entry comes after Lake Travis got back in the win column with a 55-23 victory over Del Valle. The victory puts the Cavaliers at 7-1 overall before an away game at Hays.
All is right in the world. Lake Travis High School is back in the win column.
Without Wilson in their starting lineup — the five-star receiver was sidelined with a minor injury — the Cavaliers dismantled Del Valle behind 487 yards of total offense. After a loss to Westlake two weeks earlier, it was certainly nice to get back to playing what Wilson calls "Lake Travis football."
"We came out ready to play and got right to it this week," Wilson said. "We also didn’t turn the ball over. My back is getting better. I'm just taking it slow and going through all the recovery precautions."
Lake Travis travels to Hays Friday evening, an opponent that's 7-1 after last week's loss to Westlake. It'll be a busy weekend for Wilson as he's also planned a visit to Columbus to see his future teammates take on Nebraska.
"I hope to get to see all the staff and players and an Ohio State win," Wilson said. "My score prediction is Ohio State, 48-28."
He'll also get to see a ton of top-level recruits as the Buckeyes are preparing for their biggest recruiting weekend in quite some time. Wilson hasn't been shy in helping Ohio State recruit. He frequently talks with other prospects about the idea of joining him.
Saturday will be no different.
"My message to other recruits [concerning Ohio State] will just be getting a chance to get as much NFL exposure as possible and to be in the hunt for a playoff every year," he said.
Wilson will have the chance to send that message to many familiar faces. But there's one in particular he'd like to see suit up in scarlet and gray the most — Olentangy Orange five-star defensive end Zach Harrison, who will also be in Columbus this weekend.
"Zach Harrison would be my player to get in this class because of his ability to run at his size, and his potential," Wilson said.
For Ohio State, this weekend is an important one. But at least the Buckeyes have their top 2019 commit on hand to help them along the way.
