Ohio State demolishes Tennessee, 42-17, and advances to the Rose Bowl to face top-seeded Oregon.
Four trips to Many, Louisiana, by Jim Knowles wasn‘t enough for Ohio State to land Tackett Curtis.
Even though Knowles and Ohio State didn’t hide the fact that Curtis was their top linebacker target in the 2023 class, the four-star linebacker has decided to take his talents elsewhere, committing to USC on Monday.
After a lot of consideration and thought Ive decided to commit to the University of Southern California! Id like to thank everyone that has supported me throughout this process and all of the programs that recruited me! #FightOn #USC pic.twitter.com/bAU84ixsYX

Curtis’ commitment to USC comes just two days after Troy Bowles’ commitment to Georgia, knocking two of Ohio State’s top linebacker targets for the 2023 class off the board.
With both Bowles and Curtis now committed elsewhere, four-star in-state linebacker Arvell Reese becomes one of the most important remaining targets for the Buckeyes to land. Four-star Texas linebacker Derion Gullette also remains a target for Ohio State, and he made an official visit to Ohio State in June, though the home-state Longhorns are the favorite to land him.
The Buckeyes may be forced to expand their net and explore additional linebacker options in the 2023 class, though, now that they’ve missed out on both Curtis and Bowles.
