Ohio State isn't done searching for offensive tackle depth for next season.
After not adding any offensive tackle help in the first transfer portal window in December, the Buckeyes are planning on hosting San Diego State offensive tackle transfer Josh Simmons on an official visit on Friday, Simmons confirmed to Eleven Warriors.
Simmons officially entered the transfer portal on April 15 after completing his redshirt freshman season with the Aztecs, though he announced his intentions to transfer in February. He will have at least three years of eligibility remaining. In addition to visiting OSU, Simmons said he plans on visiting Florida on May 5 and Colorado on May 20.

The 6-foot-6, 305-pound offensive lineman started all 13 games for San Diego State last season at right tackle, playing 799 snaps. For the 2022 season, Simmons earned a 47.1 overall grade from Pro Football Focus. He was a much better pass blocker than a run blocker, as he graded 65.3 in pass protection and 47.7 in run blocking while being called for 17 penalties.
If he commits to OSU, Simmons would boast a trait no current player on OSU's roster currently has: A full season of experience starting as an offensive tackle.
As a recruit, Simmons was a four-star prospect from California in the 2021 recruiting class with pro upside. He held offers from Oregon, Arizona, Arizona State, Arkansas, Colorado, Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, Miami, Michigan, Michigan State, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Penn State, Syracuse, UCLA, USC, Utah, Washington and Washington State and others.
