One of Ohio State’s top offensive lineman targets in the 2025 cycle enjoyed his time in Columbus last week.

On Oct. 7, four-star Michigan prospect Avery Gach made his first trip back to Ohio State since camping with the Buckeyes over the summer and witnessed the team’s 37-17 victory over Maryland.

“It was a really good visit,” Gach told Eleven Warriors. “I’d say my main takeaway was they’re for sure really interested in me. Every single visit I take there has been a good one.”

While on the trip, Gach checked in with both Justin Frye and Ryan Day.

“I talked to coach Day before the game and we just talked about how he was supposed to come up to my school (in the off week) but he couldn’t make it, so he apologized for that. He was thankful we were there,” Gach said. “Coach Frye and I talked about the offensive line, how my season was going and how the game was going to go.”

When Gach watched Ohio State on the field, he admired how the offensive line bounced back against the Terrapins after a poor first-half showing.

“The second half was better than the first,” Gach said. “Donovan Jackson looks really good and is having a good year. Obviously, they lost three guys to the draft on their offensive line. Two of the three are starting, too. It’s a big loss but they look pretty good.”

The 6-foot-5, 275-pound Gach plays offensive tackle for Wylie E. Groves High School (Franklin, Michigan), but said he is open to playing anywhere on the offensive line in college. He’s yet to have any specific conversations with Frye in regards to where he envisions him lining up at the collegiate level, though.

“I could see myself bumping to guard in college or staying at tackle. I could even snap the ball as well,” Gach said. “We haven’t talked about it too much though. Wherever I can get on the field earliest (is where I’d want to play).”

Gach said he hasn’t put much thought into any sort of decision timeline but may start narrowing things down within a few months. In addition to Ohio State, Gach named Michigan, Penn State, Georgia and USC as schools he’s high on at the moment but said his recruitment remains open.

“An appealing aspect is they’re always competing for national championships and it’s close to home,” Gach said of Ohio State. “They’re one of the top schools I’m looking at.”

Blake Woodby to commit Saturday

One of Ohio State’s top cornerback targets in the 2025 class is ready to make his decision. On Saturday afternoon, four-star Maryland prospect Blake Woodby will pick a school from a final five of Ohio State, Oregon, Alabama, Clemson and Tennessee.

Ohio State received the final visit before the 5-foot-11, 180-pound prospect’s commitment, as Woodby was in Columbus for the Buckeyes’ 37-17 win over Maryland last week. As it stands, Ohio State is the favorite to land Woodby. If the program lands the talented prospect, it would be the first St. Frances Academy (Baltimore, Maryland) product to play for the Buckeyes and would give Ohio State its third commitment of the 2025 cycle.

“Just growing up watching Ohio State and seeing all the guys they produce in the league as far as cornerbacks go, it’s just an ultimate level I want to reach one day,” Woodby told Eleven Warriors after he received an offer in December. “It means the world.”

Buckeyes offer 5-star 2026 RB Savion Hiter

Ohio State has offered the No. 1 running back in the country in the 2026 class. Running backs coach Tony Alford extended the offer personally to five-star Virginia prospect Savion Hiter on Wednesday.

Per 247Sports’ composite rankings, the 5-foot-11, 182-pound prospect is considered the 16th-best prospect nationally and the top-rated running back in 2026. He holds nearly 20 Division I offers, including Alabama, Georgia, Maryland, Ole Miss, Oregon, Penn State, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and Virginia Tech.

Hiter and Ohio State have showcased mutual interest in each other for months, as the Virginia product visited Columbus for the Buckeyes’ spring game in April.

In five games this season, Hiter has run for 627 yards on 97 carries with seven touchdowns.
