A lot more people watch Mississippi State-Alabama and Florida State-Miami (FL) than Ohio State-Minnesota, but given the time of the game (and it not being the No. 1 vs. No. 3 team in the country or a rivalry game in which Jameis Winston could possibly lose), 4.1 is a really impressive number.
So impressive, in fact, ESPN said it was the highest rated noon game on the network this Saturday.
Which is why I think, ultimately, it's going to be hard for the Committee — or the sport's puppet-master, ESPN — to turn down Ohio State. More people would turn into watch Ohio State than the likes of Baylor or TCU or even somebody like Oregon. And don't forget, the Alabama-LSU championship rematch drew dismal ratings.
