Urban Meyer joined the NFL Network set today to discuss a variety of issues during the NFL Network's NFL Scouting Combine coverage. We have the recording featuring above, but here are the big points Meyer discussed.
- Ezekiel Elliott: "He’s the best player I’ve ever coached without the ball in his hand."
- Braxton Miller: "He's clean as a whistle and a great kid. A very team-first kind of guy."
- Braxton's move to WR: "could be a diamond in the rough". Compared Miller's transition to Pryor and noted Miller has the edge because he had six months of wide receiver duties in college football.
- Cardale Jones: "11-0 as a starter, a national champion, and as strong an arm as anybody". Meyer expressed optimism that Jones would do well today.
- Christian Hackenberg: "walked into a tough situation... ton of upside"
- NFL's CBA: Meyer relayed comments from Josh McDaniels about how it's "hurting the league". Coaches can't coach new quarterbacks from January to April, which leads them to pursue "so-called gurus".
- Relationship with Bill Belichick: "great, very close... been so for a very long time". Meyer noted Belichick is a man of few words, and even less emojis.
- Connor Cook: Meyer seemed to affirm with a "sure" during Rich Eisen's commentary about the captaincy issue with Connor Cook.
