Guapo's Career Day
Carlos Hyde went off Sunday afternoon.
The former Buckeye ballcarrier exploded for a career-high 193 yards on just 17 carries, and added one seven yard touchdown catch to the tally to give him 200 total yards on the day.
Hyde also had a 47-yard run where he showed off his speed before eventually being forced out by former-Buckeye Darron Lee.
Despite the performance, the 49ers still lost in overtime and still only have one win on the season. That's what stuck with Hyde after the game.

El Guapo's play has been a bright spot for a otherwise cloudy season for San Francisco. Before an injury sideline him for a game and slowed him down in a few more, Hyde led the NFL in rushing touchdowns.
This season, he's been doomed to have stellar performances go to waste because his team is bad. You would have thought he'd avoid that fate by not playing for the Browns.
Big Bear Sidelined
Joey Bosa left the game with a possible concussion in the second quarter of the Chargers' game against Carolina. Ironically, he suffered the injury while sacking Cam Newton.

Before his injury, Bosa was dominating the Panthers' offensive line. When he left the game, he already had three tackles, one tackle for a loss, a sack and two quarterback hurries in just a quarter and a half.

Bosa will now go through the league's concussion protocol and may miss this week's game against the Raiders.
The good news though, is that this sets him up for a likely return against the Cleveland Browns, who are giving up the most sacks in the NFL by far. Bosa might legitimately set some records, or send a quarterback to the hospital.
Apple Pancake
Eli Apple had a rough outing, Sunday.
He actually played a good game in coverage and his team came away with a huge win over the league-leading Dallas Cowboys, but his day can be accurately summarized in a couple Vines.
First, we have him getting absolutely pancaked by a human much larger than he is.
Apple found himself one-on-one with Cowboys offensive lineman Tyron Smith in the open field. He lost.

First, we have him getting trucked by his own teammate.
After Leon Hall intercepted a Dak Prescott pass, he tried to follow his block which led him right into a head-one collision with Apple.

At least his former teammates had his back.

Play of the Week
This week was admittedly pretty uneventful for former Buckeyes. There were no forced turnovers, no long touchdown runs or catches (I'm looking at you, Ted Ginn Jr.), and quite a few offensive players were sidelined with injuries.
All is not lost. This just gives us an opportunity to show love to an underappreciated.
I grant you the privilege of watching Ryan Shazier pretty much teleport into the backfield to make a stop. He stays back momentarily while he recognizes the play then somehow is the first person in the backfield to make the stop behind the line.
Ryan Shazier takes a couple read steps to diagnose & then knifes in for stop. Really impressive #HereWeGo #NFL1000 pic.twitter.com/qxRBT7vvOi

It's not the flashiest play and it's far from game-changing, but Ryan Shazier is really good at football.
Ohio Against the World
Playoff time means you have to bring your best – I did not. Naturally, I had my lowest scoring output of the season thanks to a dud game from Terrelle Pryor, a below-average performance from Ezekiel Elliott (lol, breaking 100 yards as a rookie is "below average"), no deep touchdowns from Ted Ginn Jr. and Michael Thomas' injury.
I will have one final chance for a win in the consolation game of the consolation playoffs next week. I am not optomistic.
