The booms keep rolling for Ohio State fans on National Signing Day 2018. After their team signed the No. 1 offensive tackle in the class and defensive coordinator Greg Schiano announced his return to Columbus, it looks like the university could soon sign Urban Meyer to a contract extension.
Meyer spoke on it Wednesday during his National Signing Day presser:
Urban Meyer says Ohio State has extended an offer to him for a contract extension that he expects to sign soon.

Meyer added, on his way out the door, he expects the deal to be for two additional years. Ohio State athletic director Gene Smith later confirmed to reporters the university is working on an extension that would keep Meyer in Columbus for the next five seasons through 2022.
Meyer's current contract, which Ohio State extended in 2015, ties him to the Buckeyes through 2020. The university paid Meyer $6.4 million in 2017, good for No. 4 in the latest USA TODAY Coaching Salary Database.
Whatever the final number is, don't expect it to equal Texas A&M's contract for Jimbo Fisher. Smith called the $75 million guaranteed in that contract "so ridiculous" yesterday while lamenting the inflation of college football coaching salaries.
