Dwayne Haskins' time in Washington is over.
The Washington Football team is parting ways with their former first-round pick as the team released Haskins on Monday, Ian Rapoport reports.
The move comes after Haskins was fined $40,000 and stripped of his captaincy last week after photos surfaced showing him maskless with strippers at a private party.
Following the incident, Haskins started Washington's game against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday, but was benched in favor of former Old Dominion quarterback Taylor Heinicke after throwing two interceptions and losing a fumble.
On Monday morning, Washington coach Ron Rivera said Heinicke would get the start in Sunday night’s division-deciding game against the Philadelphia Eagles if Alex Smith cannot, making it clear Haskins' tenure in D.C. was likely coming to an end.
Haskins was drafted by Washington with the No. 15 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. He leaves Washington with a 3-10 record as a starter.
