Two weeks after the rest of Ohio State's NFL draft prospects went through their pro day, Shaun Wade had his workout at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center on Wednesday.
Wade opted to delay his pro day until Wednesday so he would have two extra weeks to recover from a turf toe injury that's been lingering since Ohio State's season this fall. And it seems that extra time to train paid off.
The former Ohio State cornerback ran a 4.43-second 40-yard dash at Wednesday's pro day – where Justin Fields also went through a throwing workout in front of representatives from NFL teams for the second time – while he also posted a 37.5-inch vertical jump and a 10-foot-3 broad jump.

To put those numbers into perspective, here's how they compare to the numbers recent Ohio State first-round cornerbacks Jeff Okudah, Denzel Ward and Damon Arnette posted at the NFL Scouting Combine:
Player | 40 | Vert | Broad |
---|---|---|---|
SHAUN WADE (2021) | 4.43 | 37.5" | 10'3" |
JEFF OKUDAH (2020) | 4.48 | 41" | 11'3" |
DAMON ARNETTE (2020) | 4.56 | DNP | DNP |
DENZEL WARD (2018) | 4.32 | 39" | 11' |
Wade, who was listed at 6-foot-1 and 195 pounds during his Ohio State career, weighed in at 196 pounds on Wednesday.
Great day all around for @shaunwade24 here at Pro Day in Columbus!

Weighed in at 196 LBs. Ran fast. Jumped high. All of the feedback from teams on position drills was fantastic: great change of direction, range, hands, etc.!
Teams got to see a healthy version of Shaun.
Wade also went through position drills on Wednesday, and Ohio State provided some video of his workout to the media.
Wade's 4.43-second 40 would have been the fastest of any participant at Ohio State's main pro day on March 30.
With his broad jump of 123 inches, Wade has raised almost $1,700 for Warrick Dunn Charities through his PledgeIt campaign, through which donors can give money to his cause – which benefits single-parent and underprivileged families – for each inch he jumped.
As aforementioned, Fields also went through another throwing workout for NFL scouts at the Woody on Wednesday. While media were not permitted to attend the workout, Ohio State shared clips of some of Fields' throws on its Instagram story.

Other teams who were confirmed to have representatives in attendance included the New York Jets, Atlanta Falcons, Detroit Lions and Carolina Panthers, according to Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer. Per Ohio State, 30 representatives from 17 NFL teams were in attendance to watch Wade and Fields work out on Wednesday.
