The Maxwell Football Club has named C.J. Stroud its national player of the week after his performance against Indiana on Saturday.
Stroud, the current frontrunner for the Heisman Trophy according to most sportsbooks, completed 17 of 28 passes for 297 yards and five touchdowns in Ohio State's 56-14 win over the Hoosiers. It was his ninth time throwing for five or more scores in 22 games as the Buckeyes' starting quarterback.

The Inland Empire, California, native threw his five touchdowns to four different receivers. In the first quarter, he connected with Emeka Egbuka for a 6-yard score and Marvin Harrison Jr. for a 58-yard strike. In the third frame, Stroud tossed two touchdowns to Cade Stover from 1-yard and 12-yards out before throwing his final touchdown to Kamryn Babb in the fourth quarter from the 8-yard line.
In addition to the Maxwell Football award, Stroud was named Big Ten offensive player of the week for his efforts against the Hoosiers.
This season, Stroud has completed 186 of 277 passes for 2,750 yards, 34 touchdowns and only four interceptions. The Ohio State quarterback is tied with North Carolina's Drake Maye for the NCAA lead in passing touchdowns, and he ranks No. 1 in passing efficiency (188.16), No. 5 in yards per completion (14.78), No. 6 in points responsible for (204) and No. 20 in completion percentage (67.1%).
Earlier this year, Stroud was named the national player of the week by Maxwell Football for his performance against Michigan State on Oct. 8. He completed 21 of 26 passes for 361 yards and six touchdowns in the contest. Stroud was also named a semifinalist for the Maxwell Award, which honors college football's best player, along with Harrison on Nov. 1.
Finalists for the Maxwell Award will be announced on Nov. 22, and the winners will be announced during ESPN's Home Depot College Football Awards show on Dec. 8.
