According to the AP and USA TODAY Coaches Polls, Ohio State and Michigan will be a top-three matchup when the teams meet in Columbus on Saturday.
The Buckeyes and Wolverines will enter the game undefeated at a perfect 11-0 for the first time since 2006. Ohio State was ranked No. 1, and Michigan was ranked No. 2 at the time, with the former coming out victorious in a 42-39 win in what many consider "The Game of the Century" in college football.
On Saturday, the Wolverines squeaked past Illinois, 19-17, in the early afternoon. Michigan required a 35-yard field goal from Jake Moody with nine seconds remaining to down the Illini. Meanwhile, Ohio State struggled to move past Maryland in the evening, as the Terps stuck around for all four quarters. The Buckeyes won the game, 43-30, with a late push in the final frame that included a 45-yard field goal from Noah Ruggles and a forced fumble by Zach Harrison, recovered by Steele Chambers for a touchdown.
Looking elsewhere, Georgia is the top-ranked team and TCU is fourth in the AP and Coaches Polls. Additionally, Southern California and Louisiana State check in as the No. 5 and No. 6 teams in the rankings, as the Trojans defeated then-No. 16 UCLA in the "Battle of Los Angeles," 48-45, and LSU beat the University of Alabama-Birmingham, 41-10, this weekend.
Penn State and Notre Dame – Ohio State's two ranked wins in the 2022 season – are 11th/10th and 13th/15th in the AP and Coaches Polls, respectively. The Nittany Lions finish their year against Michigan State at home on Saturday, while the Fighting Irish travel to the LA Memorial Coliseum to battle USC in a ranked vs. ranked matchup.
