Five Ohio State players were recognized for their outstanding seasons on Tuesday, as Marvin Harrison Jr., Dawand Jones, C.J. Stroud, Paris Johnson Jr. and Tommy Eichenberg received All-American honors from CBS Sports.
Harrison headlines the list of Buckeyes as the only unanimous selection from the program. The second-year receiver collected 72 receptions for 1,157 yards and 12 touchdowns in the team's first 12 games and earned first-team All-Big Ten honors and the conference's Richter-Howard Receiver of the Year Award for his efforts. He is also one of three finalists for the Biletnikoff Award, which will be presented to its winner on Thursday.
Interestingly, Stroud is not a first-team All-American with Harrison, according to CBS Sports, despite becoming one of four finalists for the Heisman Trophy on Monday and being named a finalist for the Walter Camp Player of the Year and the Maxwell Award. Instead, Jones was the second Buckeye to pick up first-team honors from the news organization after registering 372 pass-blocking snaps without allowing a sack and excelling as a run blocker in his second year as Ohio State's starter at right tackle.
Featured on CBS Sports' second team were Stroud, Johnson and Eichenberg, who each have played a significant role in Ohio State's 11-win season and first College Football Playoff berth since 2020.
Stroud finished in a tie with Tennessee's Hendon Hooker for second-team honors, with USC's Caleb Williams earning first-team recognition. This season, the Inland Empire, California, native completed 66.2% of his passing attempts for 3,340 yards and 37 touchdowns with only six interceptions – good for a passer rating of 176.25 that ranks atop the FBS during the regular season.
Johnson allowed only 10 pressures and one sack this season protecting Stroud's blind side. The 6-foot-6, 311-pound left tackle shared a second-team selection with Illinois' Alex Palczewski and finished behind Northwestern's Peter Skoronski and Jones.
Eichenberg has been Ohio State's best defensive player in 2022 and racked up 112 tackles (72 solo), 12 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks through the Buckeyes' first 12 games. The fourth-year linebacker was a first-team All-Big Ten selection and is a finalist for the Lott IMPACT Trophy, presented to a defensive player who displays athletic excellence and exceptional character.
Ohio State tied with Alabama, Iowa, Notre Dame and USC for the most first-team All-American selections with two. At the same time, the Buckeyes led the way with five All-American selections overall. The second-most selections overall belonged to the Trojans with four and the Illinois Fighting Illini with three.
