Ohio State may not be done adding to its roster for the 2023 season after all.
Per a source close to the team, Ohio State plans to host former Northwestern linebacker Nigel Glover on an official visit this week, though exact logistics are still being worked out.
Glover, who entered the transfer portal on July 17 following the fallout of the Northwestern hazing scandal, would be eligible to play this upcoming season because the NCAA allows players to enter the portal for 30 days after a coaching change. A true freshman who was the Wildcats' top-ranked player in their 2023 cycle, Glover still has all four years of eligibility remaining.
The 6-foot-3, 210-pound Clayton, Ohio native took several visits to Ohio State as a recruit but was never formally offered by the Buckeyes. He was considered a four-star prospect in the 2023 class.
OSU will have competition to land Glover, as he is currently on a visit to Kentucky and also plans to take an official visit to Michigan this week. Considering fall camp is just around the corner for most college teams, a decision should come shortly after his visits.
Adding a player like Glover became far more appealing to the Buckeyes after they missed out on their top two remaining linebacker targets in the 2024 class, Edwin Spillman and Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa, as they committed to Tennessee and Notre Dame over the past week. Should Glover commit to Ohio State and join Arvell Reese in the Buckeyes’ 2023 class at linebacker, Ohio State would likely be content with commits Garrett Stover and Payton Pierce as its only two linebackers in the 2024 class.
