Tyvis Powell will be on the Big Ten Network every Saturday morning this season.

The former Ohio State safety was announced Wednesday as a new addition to the network’s talent roster for its weekly B1G Tailgate show. Powell and Mike Hall will travel to different Big Ten campuses each week as an on-site analyst for the show.

Powell and Hall will start the season at Purdue, where the Boilermakers will host Fresno State in their Sept. 2 season opener. They’ll follow that by going to Michigan State for the second week of the season (Sept. 9 vs. Richmond), Wisconsin for Week 3 (Sept. 16 vs. Georgia Southern), Michigan for Week 4 (Sept. 23 vs. Rutgers) and Minnesota for Week 5 (Sept. 30 vs. Louisiana).

Powell is now one of several former Ohio State football players working in the college football media this season that includes, among others: His former teammate Joshua Perry, who will be a part of NBC’s inaugural season of Big Ten football coverage; Kirk Herbstreit, ABC’s lead color commentator and a member of ESPN’s College GameDay panel; Joey Galloway, a studio analyst for ESPN; and Bobby Carpenter, who co-hosts Morning Juice on 97.1 The Fan.
