Ohio State doesn't have an RB1 and RB2. It has two RB1s.

On Tuesday, TreVeyon Henderson and Quinshon Judkins were named preseason candidates for the Doak Walker Award, an honor presented annually to college football's most outstanding running back.

The Ohio State running backs appeared on the watch list with 2023 Doak Walker Award winner Ollie Gordon II (Oklahoma State), 2023 finalist Omarion Hampton (North Carolina) and 2023 semifinalists Tajh Brooks (Texas Tech), Marcus Carroll (Missouri), R.J. Harvey (UCF) and Damien Martinez (Miami).

Henderson has been Ohio State's lead ballcarrier since a few games into his freshman season in 2021. While he has missed three or more games in back-to-back seasons due to injuries, Henderson remains one of the best running backs in college football. In 32 career appearances, the two-time All-Big Ten selection has collected 446 carries for 2,745 yards and 32 touchdowns. He has also recorded 50 receptions for 569 yards and five scores as a receiver out of the backfield.

Judkins transferred to Ohio State this offseason following two years at Ole Miss, where he collected 545 carries for 2,725 yards and 31 touchdowns in 26 appearances. The two-time first-team All-SEC running back also recorded 37 receptions for 281 yards and three scores.

The Doak Walker Award was created in 1990. In 34 years, Ohio State has had one winner: Eddie George in 1995. That season, George also won the Heisman Trophy after racking up 303 carries for 1,826 yards and 23 touchdowns in 12 games for the Buckeyes.
