Ohio State Enters Week As 30.5-Point Favorite Against Northwestern

The Buckeyes are more than a 30-point favorite for the second straight week.

After Ohio State opened and closed as a 38-point favorite over Purdue last week, the Buckeyes have opened as a 30.5-point favorite over Northwestern, according to consensus lines from The Action Network.

Following a 45-0 shutout of the Boilermakers, Ohio State will enter its matchup with the Wildcats 8-1 overall and 4-1 in Big Ten competition. The Buckeyes are 5-4 against the spread this season, covering in wins over Western Michigan, Michigan State, Iowa, Penn State and Purdue but failing to cover in wins over Akron, Marshall and Nebraska, as well as a loss to Oregon.

Coming off a bye on Saturday, Northwestern will face off against Ohio State with a 4-5 record and a 2-4 mark in conference competition. The Wildcats are 3-6 against the spread this year.

The total for next weekend’s game, which will be played at Wrigley Field in Chicago, is 43.5. In Ohio State’s nine games this season, the over hit five times and the under hit four times. The latter has hit in three consecutive games against Nebraska, Penn State and Purdue.

Ohio State holds a 65-14 advantage in its all-time series with Northwestern. Ryan Day is 3-0 against the Wildcats since he became the Buckeyes’ head coach in 2019. His teams have outscored the purple and white 95-20 in those contests.
