Eleven Dubcast: NFL Combine Sees Stock Boosts and Dips for Select Ohio State Buckeyes Ahead of the 2025 Draft

The Combine giveth, and the Combine taketh away.

The NFL’s glorified group work-out session for its upcoming prospects has become something of a curious commodity in recent years in that many high-level talents either only participate in select drills or even opt out entirely in favor of friendlier pro days or no activity whatsoever. Marvin Harrison Jr. was the most obvious and prominent example last year not only among Buckeyes, but also perhaps his entire draft class. Still, the Combine presents an opportunity for athletes to potentially give a nice bump to their draft stocks as they prepare to enter the professional ranks, but sometimes the day can have an unintended and unfortunate opposite effect.

Last weekend, a few Buckeyes helped themselves and others did themselves no favors, so Johnny and I take a look at where things stand now for several recent OSU departures on this week’s Eleven Dubcast. We revel in the boosts in profile that TreVeyon Henderson and Quinshon Judkins earned, but also wonder aloud whether Will Howard will get the same grace afforded to J.J. McCarthy given the lackluster performances from each in respective years.

Additionally, the Dubcast discussion also covers:

  • Josh Simmons and Emega Egbuka seem like locks for the first-round, but how many other teams will use their top picks on Buckeyes next month?
  • Men’s basketball survived at USC and remains a back-end seed projection for the NCAA Tournament in the estimation of some bracketologists. Will OSU keep that good faith alive tonight against Nebraska, and perhaps more importantly against Indiana this weekend?
  • Ask Us Anything — writers to dubcast@elevenwarriors.com this week inquired about many topics, such as what are the best and worst current slang terms in the American vernacular? As a youth educator, Johnny has great perspective on this, especially on why “Ohio” has become a derogatory term.
  • Ohio Stadium hosted a nice hockey game this past weekend. Does such a positively-received event bode well for the Blue Jackets and the sport’s future in Columbus?
  • Sammy Sasso has retired from wrestling after finishing his comeback season at OSU with a winning record.

And that does it for the Dubcast this week! Watch the show now on YouTube above, listen via the mini player below or visit our Transistor page for links to other listening options such as Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and more.
