Three Ohio State players were named Iron Buckeyes for their performance during winter workouts.

Ohio State’s strength and conditioning staff selected sophomore wide receiver Jeremiah Smith, senior linebacker Sonny Styles and redshirt sophomore offensive lineman Austin Siereveld as its Iron Buckeyes for this year’s winter workouts, recognizing players who exhibited “unquestionable training, dedication, determination, discipline, toughness and leadership.”

Smith, who became the first-ever true freshman to earn Iron Buckeye honors from Mickey Marotti and his staff after last year’s summer workouts, receives Iron Buckeye honors again after a record-setting freshman season in which he caught 76 passes for 1,315 yards and 15 touchdowns. Smith has looked noticeably more muscular this spring, and his Iron Buckeye recognition speaks to how hard he’s continuing to work despite his immediate success.

Styles earns Iron Buckeye honors for the third cycle in a row, having previously earned them after both winter and summer workouts last year. The senior linebacker has been viewed as the likely frontrunner to wear the “Block O” jersey this season and be a captain for the 2025 Buckeyes, and his selection as an Iron Buckeye only strengthens his candidacy for those awards.

Siereveld earns Iron Buckeye honors for the first time as he competes for a shot to be a full-time starter for the first time this year after making six starts in fill-in duty last spring. He’s expected to compete primarily with Luke Montgomery and Tegra Tshabola for a starting job at either left or right guard, though he’s started the first two days of spring practicing as Ohio State’s first-team left tackle as transfer tackles Ethan Onianwa and Phillip Daniels get acclimated into the program.
