ICYMI: The Cleveland Browns played a game of football in the Horseshoe yesterday, and the historic stadium didn't collapse into itself like a dying star. This makes yesterday the greatest Ohio State football victory since the national championship.

Oh, and Virginia Tech is going to be out a running back when it faces the reigning national champions.

ESPN HATES OHIO STATE THOUGH. Honestly, at this point, I would feel much more comfortable reading things like "Ohio State sucks, actually."

From Dane Beavers of ESPN.com:

It should be no surprise that defending national champion and preseason favorite Ohio State has the most players (nine) in the preseason edition of#CFBrank, ESPN.com's list of the 100 best college football players heading into the 2015 season. But it might be a surprise to learn which team has the second-most players in #CFBrank -- Baylor. With 39 teams represented, here's a closer look at the players who made #CFBrank, by team:

9: Ohio State

7: Baylor

5: Alabama, Ole Miss and USC

Baylor is almost at OSU's talent level, apparently. Assuming a Big 12 team wins all of its conference games (never a given), they won't get left out this year. Playing Baylor would be fun too, since everybody would think it was about to be a shootout. I have a feeling that game ends with the Silver Bullets reintroducing themselves to America.

OSU WANTS IT TO BE FUN THIS YEAR. This is my oath: I refuse to complain about the Ohio State football team this year. Movies don't get any better than Ohio State's 2014 storyline. THIS YEAR IS HOUSE MONEY.

From Ryan Ginn of Scout.com:

“It better be fun, because we had a lot of fun last year and had fun in the past,” Perry said. “I think it would be awful if we just didn’t have fun this year.”

He expounded upon that topic when it was broached again in a follow-up question, saying that he trusted some of the aforementioned players to keep the team loose during a season that will be played under a microscope.

“I’ll say this: Some of the guys that we have in the locker room, they’ll find ways to make it fun,” Perry said. “You’ve got some personalities – Tyvis Powell, Darron Lee and Joey. They’ll find a way to make it fun. We’re just going to enjoy ourselves. A lot of the pressure to be champions again isn’t coming from us. It’s coming from everybody else talking about it. If we’re able to just have conversations and talk about the stuff we talk about in the building and block out the stuff from outside the building, we’ll be able to have just as much fun as we did last year.”

There are going to be people who let national expectations ruin their enjoyment of this season. Don't be that kind of fan. It's a shitty existence, and nobody likes hanging out with those types anyway. The meter of a successful season is as it always was: Beat Michigan.

NICE. Ohio high school championship football is staying in Columbus, at least for now.

From USATodayHSS.com:

The Ohio state football championships will remain in Columbus through 2016 because the massive renovations at the event’s former home in Canton is not expected to be completed until 2017.

The Greater Columbus Sports Commission and Ohio State initially were awarded a contract to host the seven football championship games at Ohio State in 2014 and ’15 with the plan being to move the games back to Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium. Stark County had hosted the games for 24 years (1990-2003).

“We are very grateful for the cooperation of the Greater Columbus Sports Commission and Ohio State for working with us on this extension,” Dr. Dan Ross, the OHSAA commissioner, said in a statement. “We have been in conversation with the folks in Stark County about the timeline for the renovations in Canton. As we have said all along, we are very blessed in Ohio to have some of the best football stadiums in the country and student‐athletes will be so proud to say they played for a state title in Ohio Stadium or in Stark County.”

I understand the allure of Stark County, but Hell, I think it's just fairer (and cooler) to hold the games in Columbus.

TATTOOS COUNT MORE THAN DEGREES. Donte Whitner's loyalty to Ohio State can never be questioned.
